1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using CodeBash (a trading name of Educode Learning Ltd), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing the service.

2. Educational Purpose
CodeBash is designed exclusively for educational purposes to support computer science teaching and learning in UK schools. The platform is intended for:
• Students aged 11–18 in Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A-Level programmes
• Teachers and educational staff in registered schools
• School administrators managing coding curricula

3. User Accounts and Registration
3.1 Account Creation
• Accounts must be created through authorised school representatives
• All information provided must be accurate and kept up to date
• Users are responsible for maintaining the security of their accounts

3.2 Student Accounts
• Student accounts are created and managed by schools
• Students must use the platform in accordance with their school's policies
• Parents or guardians should contact the school for account-related queries

4. Acceptable Use Policy
4.1 Permitted Activities
• Completing coding exercises and assignments
• Collaborating on educational projects as directed by teachers
• Accessing curriculum resources and learning materials
• Participating in assessments and evaluations

4.2 Prohibited Activities
• Sharing account credentials with unauthorised persons
• Attempting to access or modify other users' work without permission
• Uploading malicious code or inappropriate content
• Circumventing security or access restrictions
• Using the platform for commercial or non-educational purposes

5. Intellectual Property
5.1 Platform Content
All curriculum materials, exercises, and platform content remain the intellectual property of Educode Learning Ltd or its licensed content providers.

5.2 Student Work
Students retain ownership of their original code submissions but grant their school and Educode Learning Ltd a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, store, and display their work for educational assessment, feedback, platform improvement, and analytics purposes.

6. Data Protection and Privacy
We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the UK GDPR and educational data protection requirements. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full details about data collection, usage, and your rights.

7. Service Availability
7.1 Platform Access
We aim to maintain 99.5% uptime during UK school hours (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday). Planned maintenance will be scheduled outside these hours whenever possible.

7.2 Technical Requirements
Users must ensure they have:
• A modern web browser with JavaScript enabled
• A stable internet connection
• Network permissions that allow access to the platform

While we strive for high availability, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access and are not liable for downtime beyond our control.

8. Limitation of Liability
Educode Learning Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from the use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of data, interruption of learning, or unauthorised access.

9. Academic Integrity
Users must uphold academic honesty when using the platform:
• Submit only original work unless collaboration is explicitly permitted
• Properly attribute external sources when used
• Report suspected misconduct to a teacher
• Use AI-based features only when approved by the teacher

10. Subscription and Billing
10.1 School Subscriptions
Platform subscriptions are managed at the school level. Individual users do not enter into billing agreements directly with Educode Learning Ltd.

10.2 Service Tiers
• Basic – Core curriculum access and foundational features
• Premium – Enhanced tools and analytics for schools
• AI Plus – AI-powered feedback, adaptive guidance, and expanded insights

11. Safeguarding and Child Protection
We take safeguarding seriously and have implemented appropriate measures:
• All communication is logged and reviewable by school administrators
• No direct messaging is permitted between users
• Inappropriate content is flagged automatically and reviewed
• Users and staff can report concerns using in-platform tools

12. Termination and Subscription Expiry
12.1 Account Termination
Accounts may be suspended or terminated for:
• Breaching these Terms of Service
• Misusing platform tools or data
• At the request of the registered school
• Upon subscription expiry

12.2 Subscription Expiry and Cancellation
Subscriptions do not auto-renew. At the end of the agreed subscription period, schools may choose whether to renew. If a school does not wish to continue using the platform, access will expire automatically unless a renewal is confirmed. We encourage schools to notify us at least 14 days before expiry to allow for smooth offboarding.

13. Accessibility and Inclusion

14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

15. Changes to Terms
We may revise these Terms of Service at any time. Material changes will be communicated to registered schools and users with reasonable notice.
